Talkin' Loud, Not Sayin' Much

When I first started blogging in September of 2012 over on this blog (hard to believe I've been part of the blogging world for two years now) I did what many bloggers do: I researched scores of different articles talking about how to gain more followers or pageviews. All of them regurgitated the same basic principles, and one of the Ten Commandments of Blogging appeared to be posting often.

Mary Margaret Blanchard

If you follow me on Pinterest, you'll know it's no secret that I'm a huge fan of ABC's drama Once Upon A Time. (How excited are you that Season 4 premieres tonight?!) I like all three seasons thus far, but Season One has to be the best regarding style--at least in this lady's case, anyway.

A Day In the Life

Today I had a biology class, and since it's my birthday I figured I might as well sort of document the day. Lolz. I'm weird.
Heah is Building 3 of the campus--the Health and Sciences building. Up on the third floor is where I take Biology 101. Btw, the fourth car from the front of the frame is a near exact replica of the car I drive--at least it looks like it from here. A little gray Honda Accord. I love them.

Semi-Automatic

Have you ever wondered why your images look so pretty on your computer screen, but once you get them onto your blog, they look ruined?
Before acquiring the Nikon D40 with a 55-200mm lens, I used a simple point-and-shoot Canon Powershot A610. To say the least, it didn't take the greatest photos. Still, I had recently started this blog, had increased my photo size to take up 100% of my horizontal posting space, and had noticed that the photo quality was just awful--so much so that I was embarrassed to have those photos on a blog.

Jemma Simmons

I'm a big MARVEL fan. So when I heard that ABC and MARVEL were working in partnership to create a new TV series called Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., I was pretty excited. (Btw, Season 2 premieres Tuesday, September 23, at 9/8 central on ABC. But if you haven't seen any so far, you should watch Season 1 first.) Plus the female characters on the show--particularly Simmons--have awesome fashion sense. (Except for Agent May, but I guess leather is pretty fashionable--and being able to run around and punch people in heels is talented.)

Red on Black, Venom Lack

Whew, has today been busy. I didn't get out of bed this morning till well after 9:30, and I made a cup of ginger peach tea and went out to take care of the critters. After that I read my devotional and, while eating a piece of Ezekiel bread toast topped with peanut butter and honey, I organized the call messages I'd gotten for the people I'm housesitting for. Then I was off to church to help with the weekly lunch for high schoolers (henceforth I'll just be calling this "youth lunch" in all my posts, btw); I stayed afterward for a while talking to different peeps and getting chord sheets for playing the piano for worship this Sunday.

There are always flowers for those who want to see them {Henri Matisse}

These petunias are so, so pretty.
Likewise with the cosmos. There are bunches and bunches of these pale pink flowers, alongside some bright fuschia.

I love the effect my 55-200mm lens gave this shot. A lot of these are a little blurry because the sun was sinking at this point.

How I Pick Out What I Wear

Disclaimer: I do have obsessive compulsive disorder if you were wondering.
I know how difficult it is for a lot of people to choose what they're going to wear on any particular day. It used to be extremely difficult for me to choose what to wear. I was in that stage of life where I disliked every piece of clothing on me and hated fashion altogether. (In fact, you might be interested to know that I didn't start getting seriously interested in fashion until early 2012.) But a few years had gone and come around and I'd started organizing my closet better . . . and wearing everything that was in it . . . even though lots of times I really detested my clothes.

I still follow that same method of organization. I'm still trying to iron out its kinks, but the big picture hasn't changed in a while now. Mostly I'm just learning how to accessorize better--simply, but prettily.

Do you want to learn how I can get ready to go somewhere in 5 minutes or less?

How to Link in Blogger Comments

A year or so ago, when I was pretty new to the world of blogging, a girl left a comment on my book blog and also left a link to somewhere in her comment. I was like, "How did she do that?? Linking in Blogger comments is impossible!!!" So I asked her. She sent me to a post with directions for linking in Blogger comments. And I tried it and . . . it didn't work.

2014 Fall Fashion Picks

Since it's after Labor Day, apparently I can't wear white anymore. And apparently it's time to start dressing in sweaters and coats. Not for me, I'm afraid . . . I ditched the no-white-after-Labor-Day a while ago. And it's still plenty warm enough in Washington to skip sweaters and cardigans--for now. But since I love fall and winter fashion, probably more than any other fashions of the year, I compiled a few pictures off Pinterest to aid me and my fellow fashionistas' inspiration for the cold months.
The only element of this I'd skip is the fur vest. It's just not my style; I do like the plaid button-down with the oversized bag and the boots, however.

The Easiest Way to Rid Your Blog of Spammers

Several months ago, my book blog started generating hundreds of spam comments. My e-mail would give me about twenty a day. At least. But I got rid of them. Want to know how?

Looking Forward to Fall

The last four months of the year--September, October, November, and December--are my absolute favorites. September means the end of irrigation, which makes working out in the morning easier.
October means the falling of leaves, cool but not cold temperatures, and--sweaters! Yahoo!
