October Faves

Is it really time to do a favorites post already? Dude, it seems like I just wrote one. Time is just flying. I love this season, but I wish sometimes that time wouldn't go quite so fast--and then other times (regarding school) I wish it would. I have half of the term left in front of me and another two to go before I get my degree in June.
Dr. Henry Morgan by Ioan Gruffud - Forever -
Forever. I know that I featured this show in my September favorites post, but--I love it. It's just brilliant. If you haven't yet taken the time to watch any of it, I highly encourage you to check it out on or You can watch several episodes for free on those sites. It doesn't look like the future is going to be good for this show unless it can get more viewers--so you should definitely watch it and save it from cancellation!

What You're Thinkin' Of

Do you know what I love about this outfit?

Something in the Water

Random information: did you know that right now The Piano Guys' album Wonders is at No. 44 on the Billboard 200?
Meanwhile, Taylor Swift's single “Shake It Off” is at No. 2 on the Hot 100.

My Top 5 Favorite YouTube Hairstyling Channels

I love playing around with my hair and with other people's. And I'm a firm believer that one's hairstyle is just as essential an accessory as a scarf or statement necklace can be. For that reason, I experiment with new hairstyles often, and I follow a few hairstyling “gurus” on YouTube. Soooo here are my favorites.

5. Bebexo
When I started browsing around YouTube for hair tutorials, Bebexo was one of the first channels I stumbled upon. This girl is beautiful, with gorgeous long Asian hair (dyed to a chocolate brown) and enormous talent for styling it. Her channel has a lot of “interesting” styles that I wouldn't necessarily wear, but she's also really good at creating everyday and celebrity-inspired styles (the video above is a remake of a Selena Gomez hairstyle).

I am listening to Johann Sebastian Bach's “Little Fugue in G Minor” at the moment. I just discovered that Einstein “admired” Bach's mathematical abilities in creating the numerous counterpoints throughout his works. And I felt very triumphant after the fact, because I've believed for several years that mathematics are always in use in music.

So You Want to Play With Magic

This is me after studying for a biology quiz. I need bobby pins for the above hairstyle, so I start to ask Amy where they are, and just catch myself from saying, “Do you know where the blood cells are?”

Good, Never Great

I am tired of being good at many things but without the potential to be great.

I started playing the piano seriously at age ten. Before that, I had a rudimentary knowledge--as in, I knew where Middle C was, basically. I discovered that I loved it. A year and a half later, I started taking lessons from my church's pianist. Within a year or two I decided that I wanted to be great at the piano, so I tried to practice two hours six days a week--which, you know, never happened, because I thought I'd stress everyone in the house out by playing on a Saturday, plus at least two other days a week I couldn't fit in two hours with my schoolwork and the volunteer activities I had to do, et cetera.

The Final Word

The weather here has been so warm.
Like, seriously, it is not the end of August. It's the eighth of October already!

19 Ways to De-stress as a College Student

1. Don't overwhelm yourself with your to-do list.
You may have heard from a variety of sources that to-do lists are excellent destressing mechanisms. Checking tasks off your list is definitely a relaxant--plus a motivator--but making one too full of arduous tasks is counterproductive. Let's face it: there are, and always will be, some jobs you just have to do--like homework. Try to minimize other tasks that are optional--maybe add just one a day on top of things like homework, your job, et cetera.

Day in the Life // 2

Skinny Peanut Butter Banana Milkshakes |
Made this for breakfast. I healthy-ize it by not using whipped cream and chocolate syrup and replacing coconut sugar (which is a pretty healthy sugar substitute anyway) with raw honey. It also makes four servings, so I 1/4 the recipe for just me. It was very thick and delicious :)

September Faves

I love how Anderson was the only one who found it impossible to believe that Sherlock Holmes was dead.
Sherlock. Sherlock Holmes has never been created so ingeniously, and never will be again. Benedict Cumberbatch kills it as the self-diagnosed high-functioning sociopath. I seriously love this show and I'm definitely Sherlocked.
